Network Engineer


Looking for a Network (IP) Engineer for an initial 6month engagement with our client in the mining sector, working on an LTE Programme.

You will primarily be responsible for ensuring the design, testing, commissioning, integration, cutover, and acceptance of the LTE IP/MPLS network into the operational network is in line with company standards, best practice, and with the least impact to the business.

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Over 5 years’ experience within Network & Security fields (Nokia and Cisco)
  • Cisco routing and switching skills (required)
  • Essential to have prior migration experience with safety-critical production network /services
  • A good exposure on Nokia – VPLS, VPRN, L2TP, OSPF, BGP, and IP/MPLS configuration and troubleshooting
  • An understanding of the packet delivery process from host to host. Ie ARP, L2 switching, default gateways
  • Design and implementation knowledge of IGP (OSPF and EIGRP) and BGP routing protocols
  • Experience with LTE networks and connectivity back to the IP network
  • Vital to have exposure with VXLAN technologies
  • Ability to drive/complete STS “service transition to support”
  • CCNA/CCNP in Routing and Switching or Security
  • Nokia certification is highly-desirable

Desirable skills:

  • Experience with LANPipe controllers, configuration, design, implementation and troubleshooting (desirable)
  • Desirable to have experience with Nokia NMS, ability to help team with the integration activity with NMS to various Nokia devices based at remote mine site
  • Nokia Routing and Switching skills (SAR 7705 and SR 7750) (desirable)
  • Experience with ASA Firewalls, including implementation rule review and troubleshooting (desirable)
  • Experience with Cisco Firewalls, ability to implement new policies and troubleshoot access issues (desirable)
